More Information
Mark Wells is a proud parent of four and is very happily married to his college sweetheart. He and his wife love to travel, especially to national parks and historically significant locations. Mark loves children, and he strongly believes that each child has unfettered brilliance that adults, especially parents, have the responsibility to nurture.

His career started in technology, including time in corporate and government settings, and transitioned to marketing strategy and organizational restructuring for a global travel and hospitality corporation. He spent 10 years in community economic development, most of that time founding and leading the Rockingham County Business & Technology Center (RCBTC). In 2011, the RCBTC won the Governor’s Innovative Small Business Community Award for Rockingham County. He has returned to the for-profit sector and is currently leading efforts to improve company efficiency and profitability for an insurance marketing organization.

Mark has chaired the Rockingham County Partnership for Children’s Board of Directors as well as its Evaluation & Allocations Committee. He has served as President, Treasurer and Vice President of Fund Distribution for the United Way of Rockingham County and received its Volunteer of the Year award in 2008. He was named to the Triad Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 list in 2009.

Mark is an MBA graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Wildacres Leadership Initiative is connected with Wildacres Retreat, Little Switzerland, NC.
