Celebrate Fear! - Reflections from Rebekah Hughey
Monday, November 20, 2017
Rebekah Hughey is a Friday Fellow from the class of 2014 and will be serving as Vice Chair of the Wildacres Leadership Initiative Board of Advisors in 2018.
She shared a blog post last month that aligns nearly perfectly with a post we previously shared from John McKnight called "The Problem with Problems."
You are invited to read both brief blog posts.
When facing fear, can you conjure the true alchemy Rebekah describes? As she says, "Your body has done most of the work for you." Just use your mind to do the rest. This is an internal focus - you doing what you can to change you.
McKnight takes a more external focus on relating to fear and problems phrasing it this way. "It is important to recognize that the language we use to define the purpose of an association or meeting often puts people in a box that limits their productivity."
Both writings are premised on using the language of possibility, gifts, attributes, and opportunity rather than roadblocks, problems, costs, and failure.
Read, share, and join us as we follow Rebekah in "creat(ing) a good story. " Celebrate fear and look toward success!
