"Love Is Risk" Featured Interview with Carolyn Finney in God & Nature magazine
Wednesday, February 14, 2018
In the Winter 2018 edition of God & Nature magazine, Friday Fellowship faculty member Carolyn Finney is the featured interview. See the full transcript here.
The extended interview begins with recent events around the National Parks Advisory Board, but quickly moves to discussions of race, space, and love. How various concepts of difference (religion, immigrant, etc.) change and don't change over time are especially near to the core of the Friday Fellowship.
Regarding seeing what's right in front of us -- and answering a question about being a global citizen -- Carolyn offers:
There’s something about seeing what’s right next door to you that can be really hard. Because in my experience, if I look at something that’s right next door to me, and I actually want to address it, it means I have to, in the immediate moment, risk something. I have to risk something. I have to risk losing something in order to gain something else.
Enjoy her gift of acknowledging the vulnerability of relationship with difference that is love.
