Ben joined the Friday Fellowship as a faculty member in 2017. His story includes experiences in many places from Alabama to Wisconsin to Germany and of course North Carolina.
From the article:
"Understanding the mechanics of how a language shift happens gives you a window into how it might go the other way,” Frey said. “So, if we’ve broken down social networks in order to shift a traditional language to English, presumably a way to shift back is to build them up.”
The bold portion is a key insight into Ben's work with the Friday Fellowship. Restoring social networks -- and the civility, community, and sustainability they bring -- is work he is already doing.
Frey was also recently awarded a Career Enhancement Fellowship by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. His presence and skill are a unique and special gift to the current class of Friday Fellows.
