Follow the Friday Fellowship's Fourth Seminar
Monday, October 1, 2018
The 2017-2019 Friday Fellowship curriculum continues to be shared with not only the current fellowship class members, but with all who wish to join in building community and working on our relationships.
The fourth of six seminars is themed Prophetic Leadership. In this leadership development seminar, leadership practices of the African-American community and skills which may not be academically or canonically labeled "leadership" are brought forth and lifted up because of their unusual power to sustain, persist, and (re)build community.
Recommended readings from this seminar include:
Parable of the Sower and Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler
Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? by Martin Luther King, Jr.
Ella Baker and the Black Freedom Movement by Barbara Ransby
Recommended films from this seminar include:
Chairman Jones: An Improbable Leader
Wildacres Leadership Initiative is taking this curricular item -- Chairman Jones -- around North Carolina for free screenings with producer/daughter/narrator Anna Jones. This contemporary NC documentary film includes selections of an interview with Bill Friday about Chairman Jones.
Join the current Friday Fellowship class in their study of Prophetic Leadership. Read these books and watch Chairman Jones.
Also watch our social media channels - Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Google+ for snippets of curricular materials. These outlets are updated often!
