In the last weekend of October 2019, Friday Fellows from all class years had the opportunity to return to Wildacres Retreat for reflection and renewal. The fall foliage at the time was a truly glorious setting.
Eight of the ten William C. Friday Fellowship classes were represented over the course of the weekend. Fellows revisited some memories of past times on the mountain, practiced what various fellowship experiences taught them, and made new connections.
The weekend’s program led by WLI’s new Deputy Director Meredith Doster (class of 2017) began with a poem by Antonio Machado read by Aura Camacho-Maas (class of 1995). After hearing the poem in its originally composed language, other Fellows joined in turn.
Shared experiences continued the group's ever-renewing fellowship and common bond. Fellows communicated gratitude many times for the opportunities of the past, present, and finally what renewal at Wildacres Retreat suggested is possible for the future.
