For almost three-quarters of a century, Wildacres, located in the mountains of North Carolina, has been a gathering place for artists, activists, philosophers and others seeking ways to improve human relations and shape a more civil and just society. On our 50th anniversary and by using the life example of Dr. William Friday, the Friday Fellowship was launched to immerse emerging leaders in human relations values to build civility, tolerance, justice, and fairness for all people.

In light of the deplorable acts of terrorism, violence, division, and death in Charlottesville, Virginia by hate groups that resulted in the loss of life, injury, fear and more hate, we denounce all individuals, groups and organizations that identify with, or are part of, hate groups. The existence of hate groups is completely counter to our mission, and we strongly believe they threaten the roots of American democracy and undermine peace and civility.

We join with all Americans and people around the world who stand for human values that bring us together instead of pulling us apart.
